What is a house concert?
This is where a professional musician comes into someone's
home and provides an evening of entertainment to those people
that want to come to the concert. All of the furniture is taken out
of the living room or recreation room and chairs are put in for seating, or some hosts have other accomodations. Sometimes
a "house concert" is held in a local senior center or cafe or somewhere that can accomodate about 50 to 75 people.
Is there an admission charge?
How are the performers paid?
Usually a "donation" is charged at the door, which is usually minimal per person. The money collected goes to the performer. Simple arithmetic will show that this can become very profitable to the performer. The performers usually like the setting since the audience is attentive and appreciative of the performance. To help offset costs for the organizers of the house concert, they usually "pass the hat" during the break and the funds are used to help pay for the refreshments and advertising and other costs.
Keep checking back for new music venues!!! This site is constantly under construction.
If you know of other hot spots for dulcimer music and would like to see them listed, just give me a shout.

Celtic Bands every Wednesday at 8pm
Conor O'Neill's Website
A place for drinking, Conor O'Neill's is a social experience, part theatre, part debating chamber and part livingroom. The pub often seems an extension of the living room and in many rural parts of Ireland also act as the local shop-one corner serving butter and eggs and the other serving foaming glasses of stout. Our aim at Conor O'Neill's is to bring to Boulder a truly authentic traditional Irish Pub.
The Ceilidh (Celtic for "party") at the Cheshire Cat Brewpub in Arvada has become one of the most popular events in town, especially if you like Irish and Celtic music. Cover charge is $20, which includes your first beer, some real Irish food, and all the music and dancing. The event starts at 5 pm, with the bands playing first, followed by the dancing.
