The Economy Model Dulcimer is a "no frills", down-to-business model dulcimer that has the same high quality construction and ease of action as the custom model dulcimers without all the extra options and frills. It is a lower priced musical instrument simply because of its stream-lined, simple and clean design which cuts down on construction time.

The soundholes on the economy model dulcimer are simple round holes with no painting designs or extra cutting. This musical instrument is perfect for the person on a lower budget who wants a custom quality instrument at a lower price. It is great for taking to college or school campus. You will definitely have a truly beautiful sounding instrument that you can be proud of.

Any economy instrument can be made with either an air-dried, hand selected Cherry, Mahogany or Pennsylvania Black Walnut body. Either Sitka Spruce, Butternut or Western Red Cedar can be used for the soundboard with equal beauty in tone and response. Red Cedar has more "character" and grain design. Spruce is a lighter color and the grain is more clear.

I would suggest that you also get a padded, Hardshell Case ($99.99 when purchased with your dulcimer), for full protection. Anything less would not protect your investment against damage when traveling to and from festivals and jam sessions. However, if you are just planning on playing your instrument around the house and if you aren't going to take it out into the weather or in the car, the Padded Space Case would protect it against scratches and dings, and it is a more economical case costing only $45.00 with your instrument purchase.
