- All days will feature a trade-show, where cigar box and other home made instruments may be purchased, as well as parts and plans for their manufacture.

May will find the 2011 edition of the Moons and Tunes Wilderness River Trip on the lower stretch of the SAN JUAN RIVER, from Mexican Hat, UT to the take out 58 miles downstream. We will put in on THUR., MAY 19, meet new and old friends, run the river, hike, play music and swim for five days and four nights, and take out on MON., MAY 23. We are doing a slightly longer and earlier trip on this stretch to catch the best of the spring run-off: this gives us faster water with more time on shore to hike and play music. There are great hikes from the river in this section - an opportunity to rim-out on the Honaker Trail, Grand Gulch, Slickhorn, Oljeto Canyon, and the Goosenecks of the San Juan.
Bonnie has re-built her website and there are lots of photos of past trips to tickle your fancy, and to answer your questions.

Held in the Fiddler's Grove Campground. Since its inception nearly three-quarters of a century ago, this fiddling event has focused on traditional American music. This dedication has earned the event a reputation as one of the most prestigious and authentic fiddling competitions in the United States. In May, 2000, Fidder's Grove received the Local Legacy award from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. More than 50 traditional bands in old time and bluegrass divisions (Junior and Senior categories) vie for the coveted championships of the festival.
Held over Memorial Day weekend every year. The festival strives to maintain a low-key, family feel by limiting ticket sales to the first 5,000 takers. Camping is available on site in this beautiful wooded area of the Brushy Mountain foothills.
On stage competition and workshops in all instrumental categories, as well as the informal jam sessions spring up any time of the day or night throughout the festival grounds. There are individual Junior and Senior competitions in fiddle, banjo, autoharp, mandolin, harmonica, guitar, dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, dobro, and bass fiddle.
